Pricing for most products is dependent on design complexity, quantity, product size, and delivery method so your quoted price may be lower or higher than the typical range on our request form. The price for framed art is calculated per square inch of wooden canvas, with some variation based on the complexity of the design, the desire for color, the framing options chosen, and the delivery method.
Custom Artwork Process
Original Designs
Every commission is an original design wood burned specifically for you. Each piece is created in my artistic style and as we work together I may ask for your preference about different elements such as the composition, line thickness, shading, font, and color. Your ideas, reference materials, and preferences guide the process, that will result in a piece of original artwork that reflects both your vision and my artistic style.
Note: I do not produce art that includes copyrighted logos, team names, or characters.
Collaboration
When we begin working together, I will need to know what ideas you have for the piece along with the feeling you hope the artwork will bring each time you see it or if it is a gift, what feelings you want the recipient to have when seeing it.
Some of the questions I may ask are:
What subject would you like me to create? Why is this subject meaningful to you? Are there any symbols or elements that should be included? Are there any elements you do not want included? Type of item to be burned? Quantity? Preferred size? Preferred type of framing? Target completion date? Budget? Delivered to you locally or shipped?
Proposal Process
After we have collaborated on the piece, I will prepare a proposal that will have the estimated price, the estimated timeline, the creative direction, the size, and the required deposit amount.
Design Process
I will create 1-3 rough concepts that contain the major elements of the design and send it to you for review. Then there may be two rounds of revisions to incorporate your feedback (additional revisions after that will be charged a fee). Once you approve the design, the creation process will be started.
Burn Process
Wood burning is a slow process and mattering on the size and level of detail it can take anywhere between 2 to 40 hours. Once the burning process begins there are no design changes and revisions.
